Tom Gates est un gamin espiègle d'à peu près 12 ans. Il adore les gaufrettes au caramel, lire des bandes dessinées, dessiner dans ses cahiers et surtout il a des projets: monter un groupe de pop-rock avec son copain et complice Derek. Entre des parents sympas, mais un peu ringards, et une grande soeur qu'il adore embêter, Tom n'apprécie que modérément l'école. Dans la vie de Tom, les choses les plus sympas tournent souvent au vinaigre. Son anniversaire, par exemple: ce devrait être une super journée. Oui, mais c'est sa mamie qui a prévu de faire le gâteau. Et le moins qu'on puisse dire, c'est qu'elle est experte en cuisine immangeable. Ou encore, la soirée disco de l'école: le groupe de rock de Tom doit y donner son premier vrai concert. Sauf que c'est son père qui sera le DJ de la soirée. L'humiliation totale quoi! Pour supporter tout ça, il va falloir une sacrée dose de gaufrettes au caramel. [SDM] |

Troisième tome du journal illustré de Tom, un petit gars aussi drôle qu'attachant. À coups d'anecdotes hilarantes, de portraits au vitriol, ce roman, entre BD et journal intime, invite à partager avec un très jouissif plaisir la vie quotidienne d'un garçon ordinaire, avec ses défauts, sa joie de vivre et son insolence. L'écriture fluide et rafraîchissante facilite la lecture. La mise en page est originale, car constellée de dessins humoristiques et animée par un graphisme très varié, proche de l'écriture manuscrite. Ce côté bande dessinée plaira sûrement à ceux que rebute la lecture d'un roman. [SDM] |
